Operative words
we suspended certain actions due to the pandemic... limiting our field offices to in-person service, maximizing our employees' use of telework, and reprioritizing certain manual workloads to stop actions that could, under normal circumstances, have resulted in a reduction, suspension, or termination of benefits or payments... Beginning on August 31, 2020, we intend to resume workloads that we suspended beginning in mid-March 2020.
Enforcement
Overpayment recovery under 42 U.S.C. 404
Notes
SSA's own account of the suspension of field-office service and of workloads from mid-March 2020, published in the Federal Register.
