Operative words

Effective May 1, 2020, the City of Birmingham will expect that if employees are unable to maintain six (6) feet of social distancing while working, or engaging with the public, that they wear a face covering.... Employees who disregard the City's facial covering requirement, and other required COVID-19 safety protocols, will be subject to disciplinary action.... Use of a face covering is required while inside any City facility or at any worksite.
