Operative words
dangerous to the safety or health of employees, it shall be the duty of the employer to provide and maintain such safeguards, safety devices, appliances and lighting facilities, and to do such other things as may be reasonably necessary and practicable to lessen the dangers of such employment.
Penalty
RSA 277:36: misdemeanor if a natural person, felony if any other person, for non-compliance with any lawful order or rule; stop-work order for imminent danger
What it required
Public employers must provide safeguards and 'do such other things as may be reasonably necessary and practicable to lessen the dangers' of employment, and maintain 'reasonably sanitary and hygienic conditions for employees' (277:10); 'employer' means 'the state or any of its political subdivisions operating a place of employment' (277:1-b, II).
