Council press release: the Council updated the list of countries for which Member States should gradually lift travel restrictions at the external borders to include the United States (with the other additions of June 18, 2021).

The EU admitted U.S. non-essential travelers only from June 18, 2021, fifteen months after closing to them, and re-excluded them on Aug. 30, 2021.
