City release of September 2, 2020: 'Cedar Rapids Mayor Brad Hart today signed an emergency proclamation making face coverings mandatory in public places throughout Cedar Rapids, whenever proper social distance cannot be maintained. The mandate is effective immediately.... Enforcement will focus on education, stressing the health and safety needs of the community. The Cedar Rapids Police Department will have face coverings available to distribute to residents not following the mandate.' Violations constitute a misdemeanor or municipal infraction as a last resort (KCRG, Sept. 2, 2020).
