'After extensive consideration of the current landscape related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the health and safety of all fairgoers, staff, business partners, and overall community, the State Fair of Texas Board of Directors has voted to cancel the 2020 State Fair of Texas... 2020: Cancelled July 6, 2020 by vote of the Board of Directors; a revised livestock market-show schedule and additional youth livestock events substituted (releases of July 17 and 24, 2020); 'State Fair of Texas Pivots' to a drive-through (Oct. 18, 2020). 2021: Held Sept. 24-Oct. 17, 2021 (organizer releases of Oct. 2021 read live). Usual dates: Late September to mid-October (2020: Sept. 25-Oct. 18). Scale: 'This will be the first time since World War II that the State Fair of Texas has not opened'.
