Operative words
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Governor's emergency proclamation and during the effective periods of the Governor's emergency proclamation, the Secretary of the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation has issued various proclamations and the Director of the Division of Professional Regulation has issued various variances to provide for the issuance of temporary out-of-state permits authorizing persons licensed in another state as a physician, registered nurse, practical nurse, advanced practice registered nurse, full practice advanced practice registered nurse, pharmacist, occupational therapist, occupational therapy assistant, physical therapist, physical therapist assistant, clinical psychologist, physican assistant, clinical social worker, social worker, dietician nutritionist, professional counselor, clinical professional counselor, or respiratory care practitioner to practive in this State to assist in care for COVID-19 affected patients;... THEREFORE, the Secretary... hereby orders the following pursuant to his authority under 20 ILCS 2105/2105-400(d) and (e): 1. The deadline for persons who were issued temporary out-of-state permits to submit an application for licensure by endorsement is extended to July 11, 2023. 2. The deadline for persons who were issued temporary reinstatement permits to submit an application for licensure reinstatement is extended to July 11, 2023. 3. This Order is effective on May 11, 2023.
Enforcement
Practice on a temporary permit is lawful only within its terms; unlicensed practice is prohibited and disciplinable under each Illinois practice act (e.g., 225 ILCS 60/22 Medical Practice Act; 225 ILCS 65/70-5 Nurse Practice Act; 225 ILCS 85/30 Pharmacy Practice Act)
