Any county or joint board of health or local health officer having knowledge of any infectious or contagious disease... shall immediately exercise and maintain a supervision over such case or cases during their continuance, seeing that all such cases are properly cared for and that the provisions of this act pertaining to... are duly enforced.
Penalty
K.S.A. 65-127: $25 to $100 for each offense of violating or failing to comply with any requirement of 65-119 (DUT-KS-004)
What it required
Every county board of health and local health officer had to supervise every case of COVID-19 in the county and enforce the statutory provisions on isolation, restriction of communication, quarantine and disinfection, and (through June 30, 2025) could prohibit public gatherings when necessary to control the disease; the county health orders in the library (KS-080 to KS-096) were issued under this section with 65-202 and 48-932.
Retrieval noteThe 2020-2021 text read 'isolation, restriction of communication, quarantine and disinfection' and ended 'is hereby empowered and authorized to prohibit public gatherings when necessary for the control of any and all infectious or contagious disease' (DUT-KS-001 § 2, struck text; FindLaw mirror current as of Jan. 1, 2025, read Sept. 28, 2026). The 2025 act struck 'isolation' and 'quarantine' and replaced 'prohibit' with 'may recommend against.' Quote the period text from DUT-KS-001 in any filed document. the phrase "restriction of communication" formerly quoted is not in it and was removed; the 2020 text of K.S.A. 65-119 is not in this library.
