Notes

2020: Cancelled May 1, 2020, 'for only the third time in history' (previous cancellations 1914 and 1945); the Cannabis Symposium (Aug. 3-4) cancelled with it; registration fees refunded; the National Veterinary Scholars Symposium (UC San Diego, July 31-Aug. 2) called off Apr. 24 by the AAVMC; a virtual convention substituted. 2021: All-virtual for a second year: the Board of Directors decided at its Apr. 7-9, 2021 meeting to 'transition the 2021 AVMA Annual Convention originally scheduled to take place in Minneapolis to a completely virtual event' (July 29-Aug. 1, 2021), 'the science continues to tell us that COVID-19 remains a serious public health concern' (Ex. SEC-26-GM-002). Usual dates: Late July to early August annually (2020: July 31-Aug. 4; 2021: July 29-Aug. 1). Scale: The 2018 convention (Denver) was the AVMA's third-largest revenue source at $4.36 million, about 11 percent of $40 million in revenue (AVMA financial statement as reported, Ex. SEC-26-GM-004).
